Arts funding advice from When It Hits the Fan

This post is more of a bookmark than a blogpost. BBC’s When It Hits the Fan is one of my favourite professional podcasts, so much so I’ve written about it previously on my former freelance blog.

This week’s episode featured a topic close to my heart - communications and arts funding.

Three first year students on Bristol Old Vic Theatre School’s final ever undergraduate acting course “phone in” for advice about how better PR might help them save their course, which is at risk due to funding challenges.

I don’t want to give away too much of David Yelland and Simon Lewis’s excellent advice, suffice to say it’s all about a clear narrative, compelling messaging and the right channels to reach decision-makers. Plus there’s some good ideas about alumni engagement and campaigning too.

Listen to the whole thing or skip straight to 23 minutes for this segment.
